Voltabox Expands Its Customer Base and Will Supply Li-ion Batteries for the Automotive Sector

- Planned entry into the automotive market is taking shape with individual projects

- A battery for a fully electric van is the start - further applications such as minibuses and city vehicles will follow

- Broadening of the customer structure in the area of automated guided vehicles (AGV) continues

Delbrück, Germany, May 7, 2019- Voltabox AG (ISIN DE000A2E4LE9) is making great strides in the gradual expansion of its existing customer base. As a result, promising pilot projects in the automotive sector have recently been accelerated, some of which will be transferred to series production in the course of the current fiscal year. The first will be a fully electric van similar to the StreetScooter. More vehicles will follow. New customers have also been acquired in already occupied fields of application such as automated guided vehicles.

The first project for the automotive market concerns the specialized vehicle manufacturer Ladog. Voltabox is currently developing a Li-ion battery for a multifunctional community vehicle similar to the StreetScooter. The Voltabox Group is setting new standards in terms of safety, reliability and performance with the Ladog vehicle's high-voltage battery system that has a voltage of 400 V, a capacity of 40 kWh and round cells used. The first batteries are scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter.

In the current fiscal year, Voltabox is increasingly benefiting from its recently optimized battery module kit for intralogistics systems. Thus Voltabox was able to win new customers from this industry. The now significantly shortened development time for new battery systems means great added value for manufacturers. In the Industry 4.0 environments where automated guided vehicles operate, Voltabox's intelligent lithium-ion battery systems can really display their strengths. The wide range of possibilities includes the ability to charge the system at any time.

A new customer in this market segment is A&A, a manufacturer of tailor-made intelligent vehicles and vehicle systems for internal material handling. The Northern German company uses Voltabox's modern 24 V lithium-ion solutions with a capacity of 6.1 kWh. The first series has already been delivered. Completion of the second series of more than 40 systems is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.

Another well-known example from this market segment is Hafen- und Industrietechnik GmbH (HIT). Thanks to its flexibly scalable systems, Voltabox was able to quickly develop a battery for HIT's move-e-star low-floor transport vehicle. This is used to transport containers and is particularly good at transporting heavy loads in tight spaces and aisles. As of the current quarter, Voltabox will deliver 30 systems in two different variants: 48 V and 72 V with 6.1 kWh respectively 37 kWh.

The German Financial Reporting Enforcement Panel (FREP) subjected the consolidated financial statements as of December 31, 2017, and the combined management report for the 2017 fiscal year to an audit pursuant to Section 342b (2)(3)(3) of the German Commercial Code (HGB) (random audit) and subsequently informed the company about errors. The HGB financial statements are not affected by this. There are no tax implications. The corresponding prior year figures have already been adjusted in the consolidated financial statements as of December 31, 2018, and in the combined management report for the 2018 fiscal year and have been explained in more detail in the notes. The correction has no effect on the current or future fiscal years.
