Voltabox recieves large order to equip trolley buses

- Kiepe Electric orders another 20 lithium-ion battery systems

- Used in modern double articulated E-buses in Linz, Austria

- First deliveries in early 2018 already

Delbrück, December 18, 2017 - Voltabox AG (ISIN DE000A2E4LE9) today announced a new large order awarded by Kiepe Electric to equip modern double articulated E-buses.

LINZ AG Linien from Austria has ordered 20 trolley buses from Kiepe Electric, which will be equipped with powerful lithium-ion battery systems produced by Voltabox. The 24-metre long E-buses made by Kiepe Electric will be put into service in the Austrian city of Linz. They will replace the existing trolley bus fleet and increase the passenger capacity by approximately 30 per cent to 180 passengers per vehicle. The replacement of the entire fleet is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.

Trolley buses are electric buses and are currently enjoying a real renaissance. Worldwide, around 40,000 such trolley buses are currently being used in 47 countries and 370 cities. The modern lithium-ion batteries by Voltabox are charged via the catenaries whilst the buses are on the move. They thus replace diesel generators and enable the buses to operate at times without catenary, which makes it easier for them to be used in inner cities.

"We are delighted about this new order from our partner of many years, Kiepe Electric," says Jürgen Pampel, CEO of Voltabox AG. "The vehicle concept points the way forward, especially when it comes to introducing new fleets of electric buses. It combines large passenger numbers with almost unlimited range and allows continuous 24-hour operation."

Voltabox will start to deliver the battery systems at the start of 2018. The company was awarded an order to equip 185 trolley buses for operation in San Francisco only a few months ago. These systems will also start to be delivered in the new year.
